Highs and Lows of Grancanaria Day1

wow what a long day it's been.
Waking up at 3am Satuarday morning isn't the best, but I didn't care because I was going on holiday for a well deserved break after 6 weeks of heartache, drama and anxiety.
Driving to Bristol airport I had butterfly's In my stomach, even though the weather were wet and foggy I could picture myself Just relaxing by the pool all day soaking up the sun. Relaxing in a warm jacuzzi forgetting about my trouble and eating delicious food at the beach.
Parking up at forge car park I thought yes my holiday finally begins, nothing could ruin it not even the rude overweight blonde lady working at reception who had a face like a smacked arse and the attitude of a spoilt careless teenager. Definatley not the face you want to see before you go on holiday, I want positive vibes!
Driving like a maniac in the fog I didn't think we would make the airport in one piece. But we did! Going through customs was a blur I were so tired I pretty much slept the whole time on the plane,
Once the plane landed I looked out the window and saw the sun light,
After weeks of searching I decided to stay at Gloria Palace hotel as I wanted a nice relaxing spa holiday. On arrival champagne and orange juice were offered to us and the staff were really friendly. We got there about 11am and the lady behind reception advised us that Our room was not yet ready until 2pm but we could leave our stuff in the luggage room. But that was fine as check in were 2pm as in most hotels anyway.
To waste some time me and my mother decided to go down to the beach, we found some lovely shops and took a pleasant stroll all the way over to maspalamos and had some food. We then took a taxi back to the hotel for 2pm which were only €5. BARGIN!
When we got back to the hotel we were advised to come back in 5 minuets as the cleaner were just finishing our room, 7 or 8 minuets later I went back to reception where I were advised our room were not ready but they were looking for another one for us. I then got advised we would half to wait another hour, at this point I lost my cool, all I wanted were a stress free comfortoble holiday. The duty was very apologetic and gave us complimentary vouchers to use the spa, which is usually €20 euros for guests, that's right you gotta pay to use the indoor spa pool, it did not say that on the website when booking.
We were finally given a room at 3pm, room 113. The room was located down in the basement, dark and dingy surrounded by wet puddles, My poor mother following behind I was so afraid she would slip and hurt her already bad knee. It literally looked like some run down apartments in the east end of London. Definatley  not worth £1000 for a week. Just a basic FAMILY room where you would open your room door and need to look up to see light. If I stayed in there for a week the darkness make me feel so depressed, on the plus side the room were very clean and had a selection of  bottled water and herbal teas but we did not pay for a basic dingy family room. We paid £1000 for a comfortoble clean room with a balcony and views and we were not accepting any less. I then rung reception and spoke to panel who was very helpful moved us to a pleasant room on floor 5. It turns out that was our original room we paid for, they just gave us the dark and dingy room as that were the only one free which I'm really annoyed about buy oh well that's life. I just don't see how rooms like the dark and dingy room would be at a 4* luxury spa hotel or even apply to there target audience. It goes against everything they advertise there hotel to be, when you go on the website it targets people who want a stress free chilled holiday. maybe is where the care taker sleeps or something as I couldn't imagine many people wanting to stay down in the basement.
Now I'm finally unpacked sitting by the roof top pool, with amazing views on a white sun lounger finally feeling relaxed with the sun shining on me. HEVAN ☀️☀️☀️ And I hope it stays like this all week. I'm planning on visiting Aqua land, going to a Michael Jackson tribute (details will be on next blog) , getting pampered in the spa and just having a well bloody deserved chill. And a few strawberry diaqarus on the way 🍸🍸
Cheers ❤️
